WOODLAND TWP., N.J. (CBS) – Two off-duty members of the Pemberton Township Fire Department were killed in a sports bike accident Saturday afternoon, according to authorities.
The incident happened on Buzzard Hill Road off Route 72 in Woodland, Twp., Burlington County around 2 p.m.
Investigators say 31-year-old Lieutenant Joseph Randazzo, Jr. and his passenger, 22-year-old Fire Police Officer Erin Phillips, were knocked off the motorcycle driven by Randazzo after he clipped another bike and lost control. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver off the other bike was not injured, according to police.
Both victims are from the Browns Mills Fire Company.
The accident remains under investigation.
