CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - Authorities in Camden are searching for a man who reportedly impersonated an officer then sexually assaulted a woman Friday morning.

The woman, who police say admitted to being a prostitute, was in a vehicle with a customer on the 200 block of Sycamore Street at about 5:45 a.m. when the suspect approached them and presented himself as a police officer.

Investigators say the man wore a dark-colored button-down shirt, adorned with a shield and a patch that was labeled "Police. "

He also wore dark colored cargo pants, black boots, black gloves and a blue or black baseball-cap that also had "Police" written above its brim. The woman claims he also had a holster that appeared to have a gun in it, and a yellow walkie-talkie attached to his belt.

The woman told police the suspect asked the customer for his identification, asked him to leave, then sexually assaulted her in a lot off Sycamore Street.

The man is described as black, 35 to 40 years old, with big eyes, a bald head, medium complexion and about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He weighs about 180 pounds, and appears to be physically fit. The man also spoke with a stern voice and held a black flashlight.

In addition to the suspect, police are trying to locate the woman's customer as he is a key component to the investigation. He was driving a tan or red older model vehicle with a bicycle hanging out of the back. This vehicle was seen near Broadway and Mickle Avenue, Broadway and Division Street and 2nd and Sycamore streets between 4:45 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Friday.

He is described as a black male with a light complexion, 35 to 40 years old, with a husky build, glasses and a southern accent.
