PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Officials at the Kimmel Center have revealed some of their plans for the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts scheduled for next spring.
From March 28th to April 27th, it will be filled with entertainment that organizers say will be fun for the whole family.
It all begins with, “a phenomenal theme, so you ask yourself the question, ‘If I had a time machine where would I go?’ And what is so great is that 50 of the finest performing and visual and cultural arts organizations in this community have come together in some very unusual ways with some fascinating collaborations to answer that question!” says President and CEO of the Kimmel Center Anne Ewers.
The Barnes Foundation will adopt a Caribbean Theme in a bow to Puerto Rico’s African slave Emancipation Day back in 1873; The Philadelphia Orchestra will focus on the Crucifixion of Christ through Bach and the events, which stretch from the Art Museum to the Kimmel Campus, end with a street fair on April 27th.
