PA Man Charged In Car Crash He Initially Blamed On Dead Wife
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Police have charged a Pennsylvania man with vehicular homicide in a crash they say he initially blamed on his dead wife.
State College police say 49-year-old David Bartley told investigators at the scene his wife Susan was behind the wheel and threw herself in front of him just before a crash in July.
But authorities said Monday that Bartley later confessed he was the one driving because his wife wasn't feeling well. Investigators say he had a suspended license and was under the influence of prescription drugs at the time of the crash.
Bartley was arraigned and held on $50,000 bail. Court records don't list an attorney for him.
