HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - A Virginia judge has issued an arrest warrant for former Virginia Tech and NFL player Marcus Vick.
The younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick spent 10 days in a Newport News jail in March on a contempt of court charge stemming from his failing to appear in court twice for a 2010 driving on a suspended license charge.
On Friday, a Hampton judge issued an arrest warrant for Vick for failing to appear in court to face another driving on a suspended license charge from June 2011. Court records show Vick’s appearance had been pushed back twice since May.
The Daily Press of Newport News reports that Vick’s attorney, Lawrence Woodward, told the judge Vick was unemployed in Atlanta and couldn’t get to court. Woodward said Vick “just wanted to do the 10 days” for the offense. A call to Woodward for comment was not immediately returned.
Vick was dropped from the Virginia Tech team in 2006 and released from the Miami Dolphins a year later.
