GOP Group Says It'll Change Attack AD Against Kane

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Washington, D.C.-based group dedicated to electing Republicans to state-level offices is changing a TV ad airing in Philadelphia that attacks Pennsylvania's Democratic candidate for attorney general, Kathleen Kane.

A spokesman for the Republican State Leadership Committee said Friday the group would replace the ad because of evidence from Kane's campaign that she had no role in one of the rapes it mentions.

Kane is a former Lackawanna County prosecutor.

The ad says, "a judge rejected a weak plea deal she made because of the brutality of the crime and age of the victim."

But the Kane campaign released letters from Lackawanna County's first assistant district attorney and the victim's father saying Kane had no role in the case and demanding the group take the ad down.
