Final Touches Being Put On Philadelphia's Newest Luxury Hotel

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - More than 200 employees are being trained and reservations are being made for Hotel Monaco, Philadelphia's new boutique hotel adjacent to Independence Mall, which will open in a couple of weeks.

"We have had an unbelievable amount of booking already. We actually had to slow it down a little. We don't want to come out of the gate too hot and heavy. We want our team to settle into their roles," Hotel Monaco's General Manager Nick Gregory said.

Gregory knows there's still plenty left to do before the hotel officially opens on October 4th.

"We are cleaning the place top to bottom, making sure everything is in place. We probably clean every room 15 to 20 times before an actual guest stays there."

There's 268 guest rooms featuring 17 one-bedroom suites.

The hotel also features a ballroom for 200 people, a street level restaurant called The Red Owl Tavern and the city's largest and tallest outdoor rooftop bar called Stratus.

Hotel Monaco is located at 433 Chestnut Street. It's now the second Kimpton hotel in Philadelphia, joining Hotel Palomar, which is in Rittenhouse Square.
