PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The LGBT Elder initiative will hold an information workshop for older adults living with HIV/AIDS starting at 6 Tuesday night at the William Way Community Center in Philadelphia.
It’s something that was unimaginable in the early days of HIV/AIDS.
“By 2015, over 50 percent of the people living with HIV and AIDS will be over 50 years of age.”
The LGBT Elder Initiative’s Ed Bomba says the long-term effects of HIV infection and its treatment, combined with aging, present unique challenges, which the panel will cover in the workshop.
“They will be talking about the effects of the medications, what new medications there are available, what side effects we are finding from those medications, as well as what signs to look for in terms of the diseases of aging.”
The workshop runs Tuesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. To find out more, call 267-546-3448, or email info@lgbtei.org
