ABINGTON, Pa. (CBS) – A teenager was struck by a train on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday near the Ardsley Station close to the intersection of Runnemede Road and Tyson Road in Abington.
Abington police say a 16-year-old male from Glenside was struck by a SEPTA Regional Rail Warminster train. He was reportedly wearing headphones and listening to music at the time and didn’t hear the train approaching from behind.
The train engineer saw the teen and blew the horn, but the teen didn’t hear it. The engineer then threw the emergency stop brakes and continued to blow the horn but was unable to stop the train before it hit the boy.
The teen was transported to Abington Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.
