15-Year-Old Girl Charged With Arson, Attempted Murder In Gloucester County

CLAYTON, N.J. (CBS) - The 15 year-old girl charged with starting a fire at her home in Gloucester County appeared in Superior Court Family Division on Tuesday for a second detention hearing.

At the conclusion of the hearing, she was returned to the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center where she has been held since Saturday. Her next hearing is scheduled for September 5.

The girl had been charged with two counts of aggravated arson and six counts of attempted murder in connection with a fire Saturday in the Gloucester County house where she lived with her family, according to authorities.

Members of the family were reportedly woken up around 2 a.m. by smoke alarms in the house, located at 90 East Center St. in Clayton, N.J.

Six members of the girl's family were said to be injured, including the girl herself.

Authorities say firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The girl charged with starting the fire was treated for minor injuries before she was placed in the Camden County juvenile detention center.

Her name is not being disclosed.
