NJ Politician Doubts Police Will Find Suspect Who Blew Up His Mailbox

By David Madden

WOOLWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) -- Gloucester County authorities are looking for whoever put a homemade explosive in the mailbox of a county freeholder outside his Woolwich Township home.

Larry Wallace, his wife and two girls weren't injured by the bottle bomb that went off sometime late Wednesday or early Thursday.

"I don't know if it's just a random act of vandalism or if someone is trying to send me a message to intimidate me," Wallace tells KYW Newsradio. "I really have no idea."

There was no other damage, aside from the shattered mailbox. Detectives took evidence away, but since his was the only mailbox hit, when it comes to finding whoever did this, "the odds are slim and I understand that. Hopefully it's a one-time thing and it won't happen again."

He says the family is taking all this in stride, but if someone has a political beef with him, Wallace says he's willing to talk about it.
