HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - A new Franklin and Marshall College Poll shows the presidential race is tightening in Pennsylvania.

President Obama’s lead has been whittled down to six points in the Keystone State, 44-percent to 38-percent, half of what it was in the last F&M Poll in June.

Poll Director Terry Madonna says Romney still lags with voters on a number of issues, but…

“Maybe one of the biggest reasons for the shift is the fact that now, when we asked voters what they think about who’s the most prepared to deal with and handle our economic problems, he leads the president.”

The bottom line, Madonna says, is that the race in Pennsylvania is close enough that it could become competitive if Romney invests time and money in the state. The poll also finds Pennsylvanians support repeal of the federal health care law and that Democrat incumbent Bob Casey continues to enjoy a double-digit lead in the US Senate race.
