Philadelphia (CBS) — Republican Party leaders were calling for a bold move on Vice President and Mitt Romney followed their lead.

Paul Ryan is arguably the most high reward high risk selection Romney could have made. The Republican base will be thrilled. He is after all the architect of reducing the highest tax rate; eliminating capital gains taxes, privatizing social security and Medicare, and he’s an ally of the anti-union Wisconsin Governor.

On the flip side this will be a hard sell in critical Florida and Ohio and Pennsylvania which has populations that are growing older. Ryan will energize the Romney campaign and bring spark, but he immediately aligns Romney with House Republicans – Paul Ryan’s opportunity and his risk.
