PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – An interfaith memorial service was held Friday for Philadelphia Highway patrol officer Brian Lorenzo, who lost his life nearly a month ago after colliding on his motorcycle with an alleged drunk driver (see related story).
The service took place at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Center City.
Officer Lorenzo’s family received a city flag from Mayor Michael Nutter at the service of healing and hope.
“The family knows that a part of the city the symbol of this great city our flag is with them always and watching over them and protecting them and supporting them,” Nutter said.
Outside the cathedral was officers Lorenzo’s restored motorcycle, with his picture on the windshield.
The memorial was organized by the office of the mayor, the city of Philadelphia and religious leaders council of greater Philadelphia.
