From Garden Reports

By Phran Novelli

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In addition to being an historic treasure, the Wyck House, Garden, and Farm at 6026 Germantown Avenue in Germantown is also a great place to get very fresh food at very fair prices, at their Farmer’s Market, Fridays from 2 to 6 pm from June through November. At the Wyck, you have the chance to walk through the garden and see where the food is grown, and learn by asking the gardeners for growing and cooking tips too!

Sign up for their Weekly Harvest Report to know what’s fresh – it’s an email newsletter I really look forward to because it’s written with such honesty about the kinds of things all gardeners have to deal with: from bumper crops, to days of drought, daunting diseases and irritating insects. Plus, you get a recipe to help you make use of what’s growing in abundance – such as last week’s fuss-free way to turn those big bunches of summer basil into batches of pesto you can freeze to enjoy all winter.

To sign up to get their Weekly Harvest Report so you’ll know what’s growing and going on at the Wyck, click Wyck.org.
