GLENOLDEN, Pa. (CBS) — One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning following a crash in Glenolden, Delaware County.
Authorities say officers responded to calls of a reckless driver on North Elmwood Avenue at about 6:49 a.m.
A Glenolden officer attempted to make contact with the driver after she pulled over near Elmwood Avenue and Inns Avenue, but the driver drove away.
The officer followed the driver and, after seeing violations, turned on his lights and siren, attempting to pull the driver over. The driver failed to yield causing a pursuit through Glenolden, Norwood, Secane, and back.
Police report the chase ended as the fleeing vehicle crashed into a utility truck at about 7:15 a.m. at West South Avenue and Macdade Blvd.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle was immediately pulled from her car after it caught on fire.
She was taken to the hospital where she is under police supervision. The driver of the utility truck suffered a minor injury.
Police are still investigating.
