PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A mother and son were bitten by a pit bull in the city’s Kensington neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
It happened at about 7 p.m. near Coral and Firth streets. Authorities say the dog bit the child in the leg and then bit the mother as she tried to help her son.
Police also say the father hit the dog with a hammer to free the boy.
Animal Control officers were called to the scene and took the dog away.
Details on the boy’s condition or his mother’s have not yet been released.
