HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) — Firefighters are battling a blaze at the historic Hersheypark Arena in central Pennsylvania.
Officials say the fire started around 1 p.m. Thursday at the west end of the 75-year-old building in Derry Township. A resort spokesman says the roof of the domed building isn’t in danger of collapse.
Workers inside the arena were evacuated and no injuries are reported.
Hershey Entertainment and Resorts spokesman Jim Shellenberger says workers were in the process of putting a new roof on the building, but it wasn’t clear if the work had anything to do with the fire.
The arena opened in 1936 and is primarily used for youth hockey.
