PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police opened fire on a shooting suspect in Center City Wednesday night, after they say he pointed a gun at them.
The 16-year-old suspect was shot a little after 9 p.m. at 17th Street and JFK Blvd., just blocks away from the Wawa America Festival.
Investigators say moments before that shooting, officers witnessed the suspect shoot a 17-year-old boy in the calf at 16th Street and JFK. The suspect then shot another man in the leg at 17th and JFK, police said.
The officers tried to arrest the suspect at that location, where they say he pointed a gun at them. Officers then discharged their weapon, grazing the suspect in the chest.
The suspect and the first victim were taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where they are listed in stable condition. The second victim was taken to Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition. No officers were injured in the shooting.
The investigation continues.
