Police: Animal Skulls Found In Home Of Alleged Drug Dealer In Chester County

By Mike DeNardo

CALN TOWNSHIP, Pa (CBS) -- Authorities in Chester County say an alleged drug dealer also kept a bizarre collection of animal parts and skulls in his Caln Township house.

When Caln Township police searched Andrew DiStefano's Wayne Avenue home in February, they found guns, marijuana, and more than $5000 in cash. But Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan says police also found ten animal skulls -- six of them bear skulls, the other four canine.

Some of the skulls were painted gold, some were bone, and some were skinned with flesh still on them.

Hogan says it was probably DiStefano's way of intimidating people.

"He's not the scariest looking guy in the world," says Hogan. "Something else has to do the talking for him.  And for your average drug dealer that's going to be a gun. For DiStefano, this skull was every bit as intimidating."

Hogan says investigators are trying to determine where DiStefano got the skulls, but authorities do not believe he was personally shooting bears or dogs.

Relatives told police DiStefano has been in Costa Rica.  Hogan says should DiStefano return, he'll be charged with drug and firearms charges.
