Replica Ships From War of 1812 at Penn's Landing Through Sunday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia waterfront has two visitors for the 1812 bicentennial celebration at the Independence Seaport Museum.
During the War of 1812, privateers defended America's freedom by evading the British naval fleet.
Now, two replicas of tall ships from the war are on display at the Seaport Museum, to educate the public about this important time in American history.
"The Lynx is a 1812 replica, and it's actually based off of a privateer named Lynx that was built by Thomas Kemp in 1812 in Fells Point, Maryland. The HMS Bounty is a replica of the original HMS Bounty and it's a 180-foot boat built for the movie 'Mutiny on the Bounty,'with Marlon Brando," says museum spokesperson Darrah Foster.
The 180-foot Gazela -- Philadelphia's official tall ship (see related story) -- is also a part of the celebration. Foster says families can tour the decks of all three ships and take a river tour on the Lynx. For details, go to phillyseaport.org.
