STRATFORD, N.J. (CBS) – It was quite a scene when Kevin McGuire’s name was called during his graduation from Sterling High School on Friday.

The Camden County teenager, who is battling cancer, received a standing ovation.

McGuire made national headlines earlier this year when he asked singer Taylor Swift to his prom. (see related story)

The music star did not accept the invitation, but instead asked McGuire to be her date to the Academy of Country Music Award show in Las Vegas last April. (see related story)

McGuire said yes, but was unable to attend after he got sick and was hospitalized a few days before the event, but he did make it to his prom earlier this month.
