Social Media Predator Sentenced For Sexually Assaulting Underage Girls

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A former volunteer youth girl's soccer coach from Philadelphia was sentenced to 12.5 to 25-years in jail on Monday, after pleading guilty last year to using social media sites like MySpace and Facebook to prey on teenage girls.

Investigators first became aware of Vincent Mickle in 2010, when he showed up to a teenage girl's field hockey game to watch the girl, who he had met online. The teen became alarmed, and told schools officials and later police.

An investigation followed, revealing five more teenage victims, some as young as 14. The young women told police that after befriending them online, Mickle would invite them to his home, where he gave them drugs and alcohol and solicited them to perform sexual acts. Authorities say Mickle even engaged in sexual intercourse with one of the victims.

The investigation also uncovered hundreds of pornographic images on his computer, many of children under the age of 10.
