A Warning To Rowdy Revelers At The Big Race, Bike Court Is Back

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Race Court returns for a second year in Manayunk. It is part of a heightened effort to curtail rowdy drunkenness along "the wall" and make it more family-friendly.

"Cans will not be tolerated along the race course."

Jane Lipton is with the Manayunk Development Corporation, which is part of the bike race committee.

"We ask that you drink responsibly. We are not asking anyone to not have a good time."

The committee is made up of business, residents, city agencies and Councilman Curtis Jones' office.

"We were pleased with last year. We will still have a continued increase in enforcement. You will see a lot of people in uniform this weekend from Licenses and Inspection to the Liquor Control Board," says spokeswoman Michelle Wilson from Jones' office.

And Race Court is in place where a judge will be ready to issue those arrested for drunken behavior with fines and possible community service.
