CAPE MAY, N.J. (CBS) - The Coast Guard rescued a man who capsized his kayak four miles off Cape May Point on the Delaware Bay Saturday evening.
At about 5:30 p.m., Coast Guard watchstanders received a report from a man named Jason Barnes that his friend, Thomas McCabe, went overboard and needed assistance.
A small crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May arrived on scene and transported McCabe back to the station.
Authorities say he refused medical treatment.
Staying with his kayak and wearing his life jacket aided in McCabe’s survival, according to Coast Guard officials.
