CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - Health officials in Camden County have issued a Heat Alert for Saturday, May, 26th through Tuesday, May 29th.
A combination of high temperatures near 90 degrees and a humid air mass that may produce heat index values nearing 100 degrees are projected. The heat alert will be in effect from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Residents are being asked to check on elderly neighbors who may be living alone.
Residents are urged to refrain from turning on fire hydrants. Opening or turning on fire hydrants is illegal and jeopardizes public safety because it lowers water pressure, according to the county health office.
Residents are encouraged to report any open/turned on fire hydrants to the Camden Police Department at 856-757-7482.
