BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) - A 29-year-old man was charged Friday morning after police say he drove an SUV while intoxicated and crashed into a school bus in Camden County.
The accident happened at about 11:30 a.m. near Erial Road and Little Gloucester Road in Blackwood. Authorities say a Gloucester Township school bus was stopped at the red light when a 2011 Nisan Pathfinder, driven by Anthony Ross, Jr., struck the rear of the bus. Both vehicles sustained damage as a result of the crash.
Police say Ross, Jr. was not only driving while intoxicated but was found to be in possession of marijuana and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital for medical evaluation.
Five students on the school bus were taken to JFK Washington Township Hospital for medical evaluation and were later released.
Ross, Jr. is charged with aggravated assault by auto, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and use and under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.
