Officials Say Little as Assistant DA in Montco Removed From Job After 20+ Years

By Brad Segall

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- An assistant district attorney in Montgomery County, Pa. has been suspended from her job, and county officials are offering little in the way of an explanation.

Montgomery County DA Risa Ferman confirms that Karen Ricca (in file photo) was suspended without pay April 27th from her nearly $75,000-a-year position.

Ferman would not comment further, calling it a "confidential personnel matter."

Ferman also declined to comment on whether Ricca, who has been with the office for more than two decades, was the focus of an investigation.

Ricca headed the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition ("ARD") program, a pre-trial program for first-time offenders of nonviolent crimes. If the defendant successfully completes the probationary program, his or her record is expunged.

Ricca was responsible for approving or rejecting applications from people looking to get into the program.
