PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Movie audiences’ hunger for The Hunger Games has finally been satisfied.
After spending four weekends in first place at the box office, the science fiction epic, The Hunger Games, was finally overtaken by two new attractions.
The ensemble battle-of-the-sexes comedy, Think Like a Man, claimed first place with a robust opening-weekend total of $33-million.
Second place went to The Lucky One, a romantic drama starring Zac Efron. It took in a respectable $23-million in its debut.
The Hunger Games was third with $14-million, bringing the blockbuster’s cumulative domestic total over the $350-million mark.
And the new nature documentary, Chimpanzee, took in $10-million, good for fourth place.
Overall, as has been the case throughout the early months of 2012, industry-wide totals were slightly ahead of those on the counterpart weekend last year.
