GREENVILLE, SC (CBS) – Michelin has announced the voluntary recall of more than 77,000 tires due to defects.
The tires—Michelin XZU2, XZU3 and XM505—were produced between 2005 and fall 2011 at the company’s Spartanburg, SC plant. They’re being recalled due to sidewall defects that can cause them to rapidly lose air, increasing the chances of a crash.
While no instances of car accidents caused by the tires have been noted, Michelin North America says that some customers were complaining. The recall is expected to begin on April 30th.
Customers with questions can call the traffic safety agency at 888-327-4236, or visit www.safercar.gov.
