N.C. Murder Link To Doctors' Murder-Suicide In Voorhees Is Confirmed

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Authorities in North Carolina are confirming that the same handgun used in a murder-suicide involving two doctors in Voorhees, New Jersey last week was also used in the fatal shooting of a Fayetteville, NC woman.
Investigators probing the death of 35-year-old Shawna Givens in North Carolina say ballistics tests confirm, as previously suspected, that the gun used by 39-year-old Dr. Gioncondo Navek to kill Dr. Payman Houshmandpour and then himself (see related story) is the same weapon used in the woman's murder.
Officials say Givens was found dead in her apartment after failing to show up for work at a medical center in Fort Bragg (another related story).
Investigators say Givens was Navek's girlfriend and that he had met her months earlier at the medical center where he too was employed.
They theorize that Navek killed Givens, a mother of three, before heading north to New Jersey to kill Houshmandpour, a former colleague.
