By Jim Donovan: Ford is recalling more than 140,000 2012 model year Focus sedans due to a glitch in the windshield wiper system.
The recall involves 2012 vehicles made in the US from Aug. 1, 2010 through Oct. 18, 2011.
A seal may be missing in the wiring which could cause water or other contaminants to seep in and accumulate. This could lead to failure of the wiper’s motor and reduced visibility that could increase the risk of a collision. No accidents have been reported because of the issue.
Ford said it will notify owners of these vehicles and they can have dealers inspect and, if necessary, clean and properly seal the motor connector. Ford says that service will begin on May 21.
