Woman Dies After Delaware Motorcycle Crash

NEWPORT, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a Newark woman has died after a motorcycle crash in Newport.

Police say the crash happened Saturday morning when the driver of a car pulled onto on Kirkwood Highway in front of the motorcycle carrying two people. The motorcycle struck the back of the car, throwing the motorcycle's passenger to the road.

The woman, 67-year-old Joanne Barber of Newark, was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition, but police say she later died.

The operator of the motorcycle, 67-year-old William Barber of Newark, was hospitalized with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the car, 75-year-old Georganna Pragg of Wilmington, was not injured.

Police say an investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
