Man Arrested With Gun At Philadelphia International Airport

By Al Novack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Pennsylvania man has been charged with a misdemeanor after authorities allege he tried to bring a loaded gun onto a plane at Philadelphia International Airport Thursday.

The suspect was taken into custody at the airport at about 6 p.m. Thursday.

According to investigators, TSA agents found a .25 caliber Beretta in the suspect's carry-on during an x-ray scan at a security checkpoint.

Sources say eight rounds of ammunition, none chambered, were also found. Pennsylvania law states that if the magazine is loaded and magazine is in the gun, the gun is considered loaded.

The suspect received a citation for Criminal Mischief, which is a misdemeanor.

The suspect was attempting to board a flight to Columbia, South Carolina.

The arrest was the second arrest at Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday. Another man was arrested after authorities found fireworks and a lighter in his carry-on luggage.
