Elderly Man Struck, Killed By Tow Truck In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a truck and a pedestrian in the city's Torresdale neighborhood Monday morning.

A little before 10 a.m., an 83-year-old man was walking in the area of Frankford Avenue and Academy Road when he was hit by a tow truck.

Police say the driver, who was reversing the truck when it hit the man, reportedly did not see the man. The driver did stay at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

The unidentified victim was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus where he later died from his injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
