PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies optioned Dom Brown to minor league camp, leaving 40 players remaining in major league camp, including nine non-roster invitees, the team announced today. Infielder Tim Kennelly was added to the major league spring training roster as a non-roster invitee.
General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. expressed before Spring Training began that Brown would most likely begin the season in the minors, and the team would love to give him the opportunity to give him consistent at-bats. Amaro said that the team may have hurt the left-fielder’s progress last season by moving him to the major leagues too quickly.
