PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The driver of a car that hit a woman and then fled the scene has been arrested and is now facing multiple charges.

According to police, the driver, 19-year-old Dondee Barnes, was heading North on Broad, in a green Audi when he disregarded the steady red light, struck the woman, and then struck three other parked cars.

Police say after striking the victim, the driver and another man in the Audi got out of the car and fled the scene on foot.  The two men later returned to the vehicle to retrieve items from it and the operator of the striking vehicle was subsequently taken into custody by police.

Barnes was charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault While DUI, Criminal Mischief, DUI, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and related offenses.

The victim was admitted to Thomas Jefferson University hospital in critical condition with unspecified head injuries.
