NCC & CBS 3 Partner With Philabundance On Bruce Springsteen-Inspired Food Drive
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 29, 2012) -- The National Constitution Center, in partnership with CBS 3 and Philabundance, the Delaware Valley's largest hunger relief organization, will collect non-perishable food items as part of the Bruce Springsteen-inspired "Hungry Heart" Food Drive. From Thursday, March 1 – Saturday, March 31, 2012, visitors who bring a canned food donation to the Center will receive $2 off admission to the must-see exhibition From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen. An advocate for eliminating hunger, Springsteen has long been a supporter of the Philabundance organization.
Philabundance and the agencies it serves are seeing a 26 percent increase in the need for food assistance compared to last year while dry donations are down, making this food drive critical for our neighbors trying to put food on the table.
Visitors can help provide a meal for one of the 65,000 people Philabundance feeds each week by bringing dry food items in plastic or boxed containers (no glass) to the National Constitution Center though March 31st. High priority food items include:
o Canned/Shelf-stable tuna
o Macaroni and Cheese
o Canned Pasta
o Canned Beef Stew
o Canned Chili
o Creamy Peanut Butter
o Jelly
o Canned Green Beans
o Canned Corn
o Canned Fruit
o Breakfast Cereal and Hot Cereal
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have donated two concert packages, each including two E Street Lounge passes and two tickets to the March 29th concert at the Wells Fargo Center. The seats are located in the loge section within the first five rows, and access to the E Street Lounge gives auction winners a chance to relax before the show. Philabundance will accept bids for both concert packages via their website at www.Philabundance.org/BruceAuction between March 2 and March 16, 2012. Bruce Springsteen is donating tickets for auction to help provide a source of revenue during these tough economic times for hunger relief organizations across the country. Bidding opens on March 2 at 10:00 a.m. and ends on March 16 at 11:59 p.m. The top two bidders will be awarded the concert packages.

About From Asbury Park to the Promised Land:
Through September 3, 2012, the National Constitution Center is hosting From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen – never before seen outside of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. This first major exhibition about the American songwriter takes a comprehensive look at Springsteen's career and catalog, from such early bands as Child, the Castiles and Steel Mill through his work with the E Street Band and as a solo artist. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to view more than 150 artifacts, including the Fender Esquire from the cover of Born to Run, the outfit Springsteen wore on the cover of Born in the U.S.A., numerous handwritten lyric manuscripts, and Springsteen's 1960 Chevrolet Corvette.
Admission to From Asbury Park to the Promised Land: The Life and Music of Bruce Springsteen is $24.50 for adults, $23 for seniors and students, and $12 for children ages 4-12. Group rates also are available. Admission to the Center's main exhibition, The Story of We the People, including the award-winning theater production Freedom Rising, is included.
