Suspect Charged In String Of Sexual Assaults In Camden

By Steve Tawa

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) – A 19-year old Camden man has been arraigned in connection with three alleged rapes of young women between mid-January and mid-February.

Prosecutors allege Kevin Cleveland raped three women, in Farnham Park, across from Cooper River, in the Parkside section of Camden.

Cleveland is charged with aggravated sexual assault for showing a gun and threatening to shoot two alleged victims, a 13 and 20-year-old, as well as sexually assaulting a 16-year old girl.

"He would approach them from behind at gunpoint, he would order them to undress and he would sexually assault them," said Michele Morgera, section chief of the Major Crimes Unit in the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

During the court appearance, Morgera told the judge the strength of the case demanded high bail.

"His exposure, should he be convicted at trial of all of these counts would be well over 100-years in prison, and a life sentence would certainly be probable," said Morgera.

Judge Samuel Natal set bail at $800,000.
