PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Usually a Villanova/Connecticut game on a Monday night in mid-to-late February is a battle for Big East supremacy. But this year, this match-up is simply a meeting of two struggling teams.
The Wildcats are 11-15 this season and coming off Saturday night’s loss to Notre Dame. Connecticut, the defending National Champion, is just 16-10 and 6-8 in Big East play.
The Wildcats are shorthanded. Sophomore guard James Bell is out for tonight with an ankle injury while leading scorer Maalik Wayns is doubtful with that sprained knee. Both players did not play against the Irish on Saturday.
KYW’s Matt Leon spoke with the radio voice of Villanova basketball, Ryan Fannon, about the match-up.
