Philadelphia Police Officer Injured In Auto Accident

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police have a driver in custody after she struck a police cruiser, injuring an officer.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Philadelphia police responded to an auto accident involving an officer on the 2100 block of Lehigh Avenue.

When they arrived, the driver of the striking vehicle was on the scene and taken into police custody.

The officer in the cruiser suffered minor neck, back and knee injuries and was taken to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

According to police, the woman was attempting to make a sharp turn into a parking lot and struck the cruiser.

The 44-year-old female has been charged with a DUI.
