PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Some jewelry stores are counting on people expressing their love with jewelry, but is it a big engagement ring holiday? Local Jewelry Stores Prepare For Valentine’s Day Rush
“After Christmas, I would say Valentine’s Day is the second biggest season for jewelry buying,” store owner Charles Testa says.
“When the guy walks through the door, you have an idea by the grin on their face what they’re here for.”
But Donna Womack of V Jewelers says getting engaged Valentine’s Day isn’t necessarily the shoe-in it used to be.
“It used to be a lot on Valentine’s Day. Now guys, I think, are starting to think it’s a little corny.”
Nevertheless, customers are out there and hoping to make a big splash with their special lady.
“I’m looking for diamonds, of course, diamonds are always a girl’s best friend.”
