Home Video Report: 'Anonymous,' A Shakespeare Speculation, Comes to DVD
By Bob Nelson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There have been a number of fascinating treatments speculating on an issue that has for centuries intrigued academics and a variety of brilliant minds: did another author actually write Shakespeare's works?
Last year's Anonymous proposed Edward DeVere, Earl of Oxford in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, as the "real" William Shakespeare (see related news story). It's now available on Blu-ray or DVD.
In 1959, Jerry Lewis produced and starred in an NBC Television production of "The Jazz Singer" -- the same play that was turned into the first "talkie" movie starring Al Jolson. This episode of the TV series "Startime" -- one of the earliest color telecasts -- is now out on home video.
