Exclusive: Mt. Laurel Cab Driver Recalls Horrifying Attack

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- One look at the nearly seven inch gash closed with stitches on the neck of Joseph Dominguez and its easy to see why he's not sleeping well.

"I'm a little bit scared," said Dominguez.

Dominguez is the five star cab company driver who was nearly killed in Mt. Laurel last Monday morning after picking up four people at a Cherry Hill CVS where he thought he would be safe.

"Cherry hill's good," he said. He didn't think anything bad would happen to him there.

But he says it became clear during the 20-minute ride, a problem was brewing.

"They don't talk too much in the car, so that's why at the moment I'm a little bit scared."

He says they never gave him a destination.

"They only told me 'make a right here, go straight, make a right'," he said.

When they pulled into Forrest Court in Mt. Laurel, he says one of the occupants told another, 'Yo, pay him,' but that's when the boy attacked him.

Dominguez was stabbed in the neck.

"I'm fighting the boy, " he said.

He fought back and was able to get out of the cab.

Dominguez's blood covered the porch of a home where he ran, before knocking on the door and ringing the bell for help.

Mt laurel police responded to a 911 call. Two suspects were arrested near the scene. Two others later in the day in Cherry Hill.

21-year-old Mahadi Robinson of Maple Shade , a 17-year-old male juvenile, 18-year-old Breanna Pimienta and 21-year old Miguel Mercado of Cherry Hill were all Charged with attempted murder and other offenses.

Police say Mercado crashed the cab trying to drive it away from the scene.

Cherry hill police confirm three of four of the suspects in the Mt laurel case are being looked at for a stabbing In Cherry hill about a week prior. All are still in custody.

Dominguez says he won't go back to the cab company. Hoping instead to go to college and get a better, safer job.
