PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The plans for the 2012 Philadelphia Flower Show have been announced.
This year’s theme is “Hawaii: Islands of Aloha.” Today, Hawaiian drummers and dancers met visitors to the kickoff announcement of the 2012 Flower Show.
Drew Becher, president of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, says that in a break with tradition, new technology will play a role.
“This year, special video effects will conjure up Hawaii’s fire goddess and turn the central exhibit into an ocean of projected orchids — alongside ten thousand real orchids and anthuriums.”
New motion graphics will transform waterfalls into lava flows and breaking waves.
In addition, Becher says, for the first time the layout of the Flower Show has been changed, and a Flower Show “app” has been created, which will be available February 20th.
The show runs March 4th through 11th. For more information, go to theflowershow.com.
