Wyndmoor Man Charged With Robbing His Girlfriend, Strangling Her To Death

By Brad Segall

WYNDMOOR, Pa. (CBS) -- Authorities in Montgomery County, Pa. say an argument and fight between a woman and her live-in boyfriend inside a Springfield Township home over the weekend escalated to murder.

Police say Johnny Fossett called 911 in Philadelphia early Sunday morning telling dispatchers he wanted to turn himself in because "I choked my old lady out, tied her up and robbed her."

Police found 40-year-old Lori Jefferson bound and gagged insider her Mermaid Lane home in Wyndmoor.  An autopsy revealed she was strangled.

"There was certainly evidence inside of the house that she did not succumb peacefully, that there had been a violent struggle of some sort," says Montgomery County district attorney Risa Ferman.

Police say that Fossett stole the victim's car and numerous items from inside the house.  He is being held without bail on first- and second-degree murder charges and related offenses.

Court papers reveal that Fossett, 31, was arrested in November for burglarizing Jefferson's house in September but the charges were dropped when she refused to testify against him.
