'Makin' IT Philly' Reality Show Debuts

By Cherri Gregg

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia's newest reality TV show kicks off tonight.

"Makin' IT Philly" is an independently produced show that focuses on the lives of African-American entrepreneurs, fashionistas, up and coming socialites and hip-hop artists trying to catch a break in the world of fashion, business and music. All of the 13 cast members are affiliated with Palmieri Jeans, a Philadelphia-based fashion company. The show chronicles their work towards a common goal of branding Palmieri and its associated businesses.

"It's drama, it's complications, it's issues," said cast member Nicole Sanders. Her father, Victor Sanders, is the show's executive producer. She said her dad is a deal junkie and they came up with the idea for the show as a way of demonstrating how hard it is to build a business and a career from the ground up.

"What you see on this show is how we are going to make it," she said. "You don't see that on other shows, you see them already living this fabulous life."

She says the show is unlike other reality TV because there there's no fake glitz or glam, it is just as real as Philadelphia.

The show airs every Tuesday night at 8pm on WMCN-TV, digital channel 44. It will also air on Bounce TV, a new cable channel geared toward an African-American audience in March.  For more info go to makinitphilly.com.
