PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It may be the last thing on your mind in January, but this is a great time to give your lawn mower a once-over. Your mower should be checked at least once a year, to be cleaned, make sure it’s running right, and have the blade sharpened. A sharp blade cuts grass cleaner and faster – saving you time while mowing and thus, money on gasoline too.
This is one of those chores you never seem to have time for in the spring or summer because you’re using the mower all the time and don’t want to be without it for a week or two – which is how long it can take when mower shops are busy. But this time of year, you can often get it back in just a few days.
So, now in the middle of winter when you aren’t using it and have almost forgotten about it, it’s a great time to get your lawnmower checked out. That way, when spring comes and the grass starts to grow, you’ll be all ready to go and mow.
