Suspects Sought In Theft Of Heating & Cooling Units From Wilmington Businesses

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Wilmington Police are searching for suspects in a rash of burglaries of heating and cooling units from commercial businesses in the past week.

Police say these incidents occurred primarily during the hours in which the business were closed or on vacation for the holidays.

According to investigators, in one case $100,000 of refrigeration equipment was stolen from a rooftop.

The businesses have primarily been located in the Southbridge commercial area between South Market Street and South Heald Street.

In a surveillance video from one business, a black male suspect, 35 to 45 years of age, can be seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants committing one of the thefts.

Wilmington Police are asking business owners and employees in the area to be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity to police by calling 911 or contact the Wilmington Police Criminal Investigation Division at 302-576-3620.
