Students Return To Class At Father Judge High School

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's back to school today for Father Judge High School students. It is the first day of classes this week, after several people attending an event on Sunday complained of eye and skin irritation.

School officials say the school nurse is in contact with the city's health department, today, just in case, though they expect no problems.

Monday was a scheduled day off – classes were cancelled yesterday and Tuesday, as the gym was scoured, and the air was tested. Neither the city department of health or an independent company could figure out what caused the problems.

Students say they feel safe coming back today and appreciate the extra days off and the extra precaution.

"I'm glad they take an interest in their students and take care of their students. They don't want harm to fall on us"

Parents are also have no concerns as they dropped off their kids at school. "He was a little concerned and said if he feels sick can he come home? I told him absolutely not."

School President Father Joe Campellone says it will be business as usual today and says even on Monday as tests were being conducted, investigators in the gym say they had no problems with any irritation.
